The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved an online portal for the recruitment of ad-hoc staff for the 2023 general elections.
INEC said this in an notice titled “Online recruitment of ad hoc staff via the INEC portal for recruitment of election staff (INECPRES) for the 2023 general elections” released on its social verified media handles on Wednesday, September 7.
The commission stated that it approved the use of INECPRES (www.pres.inecnigeria.org) and its reactivation for interested applicants who wish to serve as ad hoc staff for the 2023 general election.
“The INECPRES is for registration of ad hoc staff (Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)/ Presiding Officers (POS)/ Assistant Presiding Officers (APO)/ Registration Area Technicians (RATECHS) and RAC Managers for the 2023 General Election.”
It added that the help desk details were : Vanity number: 0700-CALL-INEC; and Email address: pres@inec.gov.ng, while phone numbers of specific officers per state are detailed on the portal.
INEC added that the INECPRES would be opened to the public on Wednesday Sept. 14 by 8 a.m.and would be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 14, by 8p.m.
“A link to the INECPRES is also available at the INEC website www.inecnigeria.org
“All applicants are encouraged to fill the registration forms online – The MOBILE APP (for android phone only) or web portal (using the laptop/PCs) to be eligible for consideration as ad hoc staff in 2023 General Election.”
The commission aside from listing the qualifications for each category of ad hoc to be recruited added that applicants must not be political party members.
“Applicants must not have demonstrated or expressed support for any candidate or party.
“Applicants must reside in the STATE selected.”
Meanwhile, Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 denied his campaign has received $150m in donations from diaspora sources.
A group under the aegis of Tinubu-Shettima Connect had urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify Obi over the alleged funding; adding that it violates the Electoral Act on campaign funding.
But speaking during a meeting with Nigerians in London; the former Anambra state Governor said the allegations were based on mere speculation.
“Nobody has given me anything,” he said. “That is speculation. What I need is not what they would give me. But what they would give Nigeria, because we need them to turn around Nigeria.
“This is the energy, the capacity that we need to turn around Nigeria. Every country that was turned around, was done by the diaspora. Even in the Bible, Joseph who left later came back to feed his people.”
