Dr. Sam Iwuajoku, Chief Executive Officer, Executive Jet Services Ltd., the company which operated the chartered flight which conveyed singer; Naira Marley to Abuja for a concert has described the artiste and other passengers on the flight as ‘useless people’.
This was contained in a letter signed by Iwuajoku and addressed to the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.
The letter was dated Monday, June 15, 2020.
In the letter, Iwuajoku, who pleaded for leniency from the Federal Government which had suspended the flight for flouting the regulations of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA); held that the flight was indeed meant to convey a legal luminary to Abuja. However, he disclosed that the judge had later indicated that he had caught another flight to the nation’s capital.
Subsequently, the flight had been used to convey Naira Marley and his crew instead to Abuja.
Also on the flight was a brother of the controversial singer and members of his crew; as well as BBNaija alumna, Kim Oprah who anchored the show at the Jabi Lake Mall. However, the Executive Jet CEO disclosed that he had assumed the flight was conveying the former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola.
Naira Marley’s real name is Fashola Babatunde and this was what was stated on the manifest.
‘‘…When I went through the manifest and saw FASHOLA BABATUNDE, I thought it was the Honourable Minister of Works going to Abuja with his men. So, we decided to do the flight since he is a serving minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I didn’t know that it was a bunch of useless people,’’ the Executive Jet CEO wrote.
Meanwhile, a total of 10 names were listed on the flight manifest. They include Afiare Israel, Chinonso Opara, Fashola Adeshina, Adeyeye Tobi, Michael Opeyemi and Fashola Babatunde (Naira Marley). Others include Idowu Emmanuel, Seyi Awonuga, Wisdom Intoto and Abayomi Akin.
