The spirit of Christmas filled the air in Mai Idon Taro village, Nafok Zone, Barkin LGA, Plateau State, as over 200 community members received gifts of rice and wrappers in a heartfelt show of love and generosity. The event, spearheaded by Mrs. Anchomo Jim Pam Wayas, wife of Plateau State Internal Revenue Chairman Dr. Jim Pam Wayas, in collaboration with the local Councilor, Hon. Emmanuel Shut, brought smiles and hope to the faces of widows, elders, and residents from units across the community.

The beneficiaries included 80 widows, the largest group, alongside men and women from units like Bek, Z/Kamang, Kubong Kamang, Rongot, MIT 1, MIT 2, and others. Local leaders, religious dignitaries, and His Royal Highness Gwom Nafok Gyang Wang Pam joined the joyous gathering, making it a day of unity and celebration.

In his address, HRH Gwom Nafok praised the initiative, describing it as a “true reflection of the dividends of democracy” reaching the grassroots. He encouraged the recipients to accept the gifts with thanksgiving, saying, “Just like Oliver Twist, we ask for more while praying for blessings upon the givers.” He also called on the Plateau State Government to address the community’s road challenges, ensuring further development in the area.

Mrs. Anchomo Jim Pam Wayas shared heartfelt words with the attendees, urging them to embrace gratitude and manage their resources wisely. “I know it’s not much, but what you receive with thanksgiving, God will multiply,” she said. She also called for continued support from the community, emphasizing that unity and collaboration pave the way for more impactful efforts.

Councilor Hon. Emmanuel Shut echoed this sentiment, pledging his unwavering commitment to his constituency. “This initiative is not about politics but about humanity,” he stated. He expressed deep gratitude to Mrs. Anchomo for her partnership and vowed to keep seeking opportunities to better the lives of his people.

The event resonated with goodwill messages from community leaders. The local PDP Chairman, Mr. Sunday Pam, praised the initiative, describing it as “a beacon of hope” for the people. The Zonal CAN Chairman, Pastor Samson Ayuba, added a prayer for more blessings upon the organizers, urging others to emulate their selflessness.

The day ended with an outpouring of joy, as beneficiaries sang songs of praise and gratitude to the Wayas family and the organizers. Their heartfelt words reflected the essence of the Christmas season—a time for love, giving, and community.

As the holiday season continues, this act of kindness serves as a reminder that small gestures of love can create ripples of hope and joy in our communities. May this inspire us all to spread cheer and goodwill wherever we can!
