ASUU suspends 8 months old strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), following an order by the Industrial Court and Court of Appeal, on October 7, 2022 and sequel to a memorandum agreed upon and signed by the Federal government has; on Tuesday, October 11, temporarily suspended the strike which embarked starting from February 14, 2022.

This was contained in a “Notice of suspension of ASUU indefinite strike of all members universities across Nigeria,” signed by ASUU president, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke.

ASUU president, therefore, urged all schools to resume full activities from Monday, October 17, 2022. While announcing the suspension of the strike, the Union said it will not hesitate to review its position; should the government renege on the signed memorandum of action. The union apologized for all inconvenience caused to students and parents alike.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu has instructed APC women to warn Nigerians calling for political change to “shut up their mouths.”

Addressing APC women on Monday, October 10, Mr Tinubu said,; “If they say they want a change of government, just tell them we will like to be polite but shut up your mouth.”

Specifically, the ruling party candidate added; “Prosperity is here. Help is here. Security is here. Banditry has ended. Hopelessness is not in our dictionary.”
