Gbong Gwom Jos Urges PLASIEC to Work in Unity for Successful LG Elections

In a significant move to ensure credible and transparent local government elections, the Chairman of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), Hon. Plangji Daniel Cishak, along with his commissioners, paid a courtesy visit to the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, at his palace in Tudun Wada Road, Jishe, Jos.

During the visit, Hon. Cishak expressed the Commission’s commitment to conducting fair elections and highlighted the importance of receiving the royal blessing before commencing their duties. He emphasized the sensitivity of the responsibility placed on them by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and reiterated their dedication to making a positive change and leaving a lasting legacy.

“We understand the huge responsibility given to us, and we receive it with joy and a desire to make a change. We will not start anything without coming to our father for his blessing, ensuring we go confidently,” Hon. Cishak stated.

He also addressed the necessity of aligning the legal framework with the updated electoral act to conduct credible elections. Hon. Cishak assured the Gbong Gwom Jos that PLASIEC is addressing identified gaps and needs within the commission to meet the high expectations set by the Governor.

In response, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, the Gbong Gwom Jos, welcomed the PLASIEC team and extended the blessings of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Mayors. He emphasized the need for unity among the Commission members to achieve their goals.

“You have been carefully selected, and to succeed in delivering a credible and acceptable local government election, you must work together in unity,” the Gbong Gwom Jos advised.

The visit marks a pivotal step for PLASIEC as it prepares for the upcoming local government elections, with a clear mandate to uphold transparency and credibility throughout the electoral process.
