COVID-19: Plateau State Govt Urge Citizens to Adhere to Health Protocols
With the resurgence of COVID-19 and increase in the number of people being affected by the virus, the Plateau State Government has called on Citizens to adhere strictly to laid down health protocols in order not to be infected by the Virus.
The government expressed dissatisfaction over inability of the citizens to stick to health protocol aimed at preventing the spread of the virus.
The Commissioner of Health, Nimkong Lar made the disclosures at an interaction with Press Men today.
He said the State recorded 186 New Cases in 5 Days.
“People are not adhering to COVID-19 Protocols as they go to public places without preventive aids”
“People are nonchalant and indifferent about COVID-19, but i want to call on them to take responsibility and adhere to all health protocols” he said.
He admonished the people not to be careless as they go about their engagements in the yuletide season.
Dr. Lar said the Executive Governor, Barr. Simon Lalong who tested positive for the virus is in stable condition in self isolation and asymptomatic. He said so far the Governor has carried out 3 COVID-19 Tests.
Commissioner of Information and Communication, Hon. Dan Manjang said people must exercise caution and stay safe.
He expressed dismay that Religious institutions in the State are not complying to laid down protocols as they don’t observe social distancing, people don’t wear face masks; no provision of water, soaps for washing hands and hand sanitizers.
Hon. Manjang said the present situation has not warranted government to impose lockdown in the State. He appealed to the citizens to obey all health protocols and maintain personal hygiene. He said the State Government is a responsible government but may put measures if people continue to contravene guidelines.
