Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has taken decisive action by announcing the dissolution of the governing council of Plateau State University, Bokkos, along with the removal of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bernard Matur Malau, who assumed office in February 2023.
In a sweeping move, Barr. Mutfwang has extended this dissolution to encompass the leadership of several other key tertiary institutions across the state. These include the Plateau State Polytechnic located in Barkin Ladi, Gindiri College of Education, Zawan College of Health Technology, and Pankshin University.
The directive, as conveyed through a statement by Samuel Jatau, Secretary of the Plateau State Government, mandates the immediate transfer of duties and responsibilities from the ousted heads to the next most senior officers within their respective institutions. This abrupt restructuring signals a significant shift in leadership dynamics within Plateau State’s educational landscape, raising questions about the rationale behind these sweeping changes and the potential implications for the affected institutions.
