His Excellency Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State visits Plateau State on 5th September, 2021 in Sympathy to the recent attacks that left scores dead.
Governor El-Rufai reiterate that Kaduna and Plateau State are not just neighbors but are constantly faced with similar violent experiences.
He further assured that he will work collaboratively with his Plateau state counterpart by sharing ideas that will help tackle the level of insecurity in both states.
El-Rufai while praying for the repose of the souls of the departed, acknowledged the the relentless effort of Governor Simon Lalong towards the restoration of peace in Plateau State. Governor El-Rufai while responding to questions from journalist stated that Kaduna state and plateau are like twins because they share common borders and any thing that happen in plateau state has an indirect impact on Kaduna state and that is why since they came in to office in 2015 Governor Lalong and him are constantly in touch with each other and working together and it was Governor Lalong that introduce him to centre for humanitarian dialogue, an international NGO involved in peace building and it was also Governor Lalong’s idea that the 2 state establish a peace building agency to see how to find a lasting solution to the crises that is bedeviling the 2 states.
El-Rufai who pointed out that the 2 states are very diverse and home to many people across Nigeria and they realize that and on less they promote peace and peaceful coexistence between the various people it will affect the 2 states and the country so bye and large Governor El-Rufai says the case of the crises between the Iregwe and the fulanis in Kaduna state they also have Iregwe and fulanis in Kauro Local government of Kaduna State and the Ganawuris are also in Kauro local government so he said we are the same people so we most have to work together and unite our people to leave in peace with one another as one family. he further state that their main reason for coming is to commiserate with the people of plateau state and thw Governor and to discuss common strategist on how to manage their borders what are the challenges and way forward, Governor El-Rufai said they are working on a committee between the 2 state that will be working on a daily basis to see how to stop the reoccurring crises.
Plateau State Deputy Governor, Professor Sonni Tyoden who received the Kaduna State Governor on behalf of Governor Simon Lalong, thank El-Rufai for commiserating
with them at this trying times.
He noted that Plateau and Kaduna States have long time historical connections, as such, it lessens the burden whenever friends come to commiserate with each other.
Tyoden further noted that Nigeria is under siege and calls on men of goodwill to work collectively to salvage it from the dire straits it has fallen into.
