The Plateau State Government, under the leadership of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, is set to host the inaugural Plateau State Interdenominational Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival, a celebration aimed at fostering peace, unity, and love during the festive season.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Plateau State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), will take place from November 29 to December 1, 2024, at the Ten Commandments Prayer Altar in Du, Jos South Local Government Area.
Prominent figures expected to grace the occasion include:
- General Yakubu Gowon (GCFR): Former Head of State and Special Guest of Honour.
- Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR): Former President and Guest of Honour.
- Ambassador Prof. Mary Lar: Wife of Plateau’s first civilian Governor, serving as Mother of the Occasion.
- Solomon Lange: Renowned gospel music minister leading worship.
The event will feature carols, praise, and worship sessions aimed at uniting the state’s diverse communities under the theme of God’s love. Governor Mutfwang, the Chief Host, has also declared December 2024 as “Tourism Month” in Plateau State to further spotlight the region’s potential as a Christmas destination.
Governor Mutfwang emphasized that the festival reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusiveness, accountability, and shared values rooted in faith. “This celebration marks Plateau State as a beacon of peace and unity,” he said, inviting families, tourists, and visitors nationwide to experience the vibrant spirit of the season.
The festival promises an enchanting atmosphere with twinkling lights, joyous carols, and community warmth, reinforcing Plateau State’s position as Nigeria’s premier Christmas destination.
