Hon. Deborah Plangnan Akanle, the Commissioner for Gender, Persons with Disabilities (PWD), and Media at the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), has been recognized with a prestigious merit award for her outstanding contributions to humanity and human capital development.
The award, presented by Pastor Brains Ijachi, founder of the Brains Ijachi Foundation, acknowledges Hon. Akanle’s dedication to service, sacrifice, and impactful giving. During the presentation, Pastor Ijachi described her as “a woman of great ambiance, immense value, and a force for positive change.” He noted that the award represents the gratitude of over 300 widows and 100 orphans who have benefited from his foundation. “This award is not born out of sympathy but earned through merit,” he stated.
In her acceptance speech, Hon. Akanle expressed profound gratitude, noting that the recognition serves as a motivation to continue her work. Reflecting on her journey, she shared how her philosophy of “helping one person at a time” has driven her initiatives. She pledged to remain steadfast in her commitment to creating opportunities and empowering the underprivileged in society.
