The INEC Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society (INEC SMCS) Plateau State successfully held its 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election of new executives at the INEC State Office, Miango Road, Jos. The event brought together key stakeholders, including INEC officials, cooperative members, and invited guests, to review the society’s progress, discuss financial matters, and elect new leaders.
In his opening remarks, the President of the cooperative welcomed all attendees, expressing gratitude to God, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), and the INEC Plateau State management team for their continued support. He acknowledged the loyalty of cooperative members, stating, “Your loyalty and commitment are the driving forces behind our success.” Despite economic challenges, he reassured members of the cooperative’s commitment to financial stability and growth.
Encouraging active participation, he urged members to engage in discussions, ask questions, and vote, emphasizing that “Your involvement is crucial in shaping the future of our cooperative society.” He called for unity in building a stronger, more resilient cooperative, concluding with a hopeful message: “Together, we will build a brighter future for our cooperative society and our community at large.”
Representing the REC, Bisi Ajala, HOD General Administration and Procurement, advised members on financial discipline, warning against excessive loans. He urged members to borrow wisely to avoid financial embarrassment and encouraged them to increase their cooperative savings. “The more savings you have, the more benefits it will be for you in the nearest future,” he emphasized, highlighting the importance of financial security, especially after retirement.
Several dignitaries delivered goodwill messages, commending the cooperative’s impact.
Kundu Yagba, a retired INEC staff and active cooperative member, praised the society’s strength and reputation. He noted that former members remained committed and even inspired interest from INEC staff in Kwara State. “Our cooperative is growing stronger and making a difference,” he stated. He commended the executive council for their efforts and prayed for continued success.
Audu Dorzhi, a commissioner with PLASIEC, credited the cooperative for his achievements, including homeownership, higher education, and career growth. “The cooperative made me what I am today,” he declared, urging members to take financial planning seriously. He encouraged increased savings, stating, “We should see the cooperative as a society that is after our affairs and save for the future.” Despite his high-ranking position, he remains actively involved, serving as Chairman of the Land and Building Committee.
Engr. Tol Wakili, HOD ICT/VR of INEC Benue State and Chairman of the Election Committee and his team, conducted the election. He confirmed that all candidates ran unopposed, eliminating the need for voting and counting. As per the cooperative’s byelaws, the following officials were declared winners and returned elected:
• President: Badi Musa Datong
• Vice President: Nwosu Nancy Nkem
• Secretary: Monica Wuyep Pangkhinah
• Assistant Secretary: Bulus Danladi Fondong
• Financial Secretary: Yepe Danjuma Dakop
• Assistant Financial Secretary: Bashir Mohammed Haruna
• Treasurer: Rabiatu Abdullahi Haruna
• Public Relations Officer: Ibrahim M. Kallamu
The AGM and election marked another milestone for the INEC SMCS Plateau State. Members were encouraged to remain engaged, uphold financial discipline, and work towards a stronger cooperative. With a new leadership team in place, the society is set to continue its growth, ensuring financial security and development for its members.
