Saturday 20th of January, 2024 was full of jubilation and appreciation to God Almighty by the People of Jol Ward, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State who came out in their numbers across the hamlets and converged at the Ward Headquarters Vwak to celebrate the appointment of Hon. Sati Bature Shuwa as the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman Riyom Local Government Council by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.
Speaking at the event Hon. Sati Shuwa appreciated the people for putting up the Unity Football Tournament in his honour and celebrating his appointment.
He assured the people of his commitment to providing quality leadership and entrenching good governance in line with the vision of Gov. Caleb Mutfwang.
He urged the People to be united and continue to accord the needed support and prayers to the Governor Mutfwang-led administration which he said has demonstrated exceptional leadership, passion to develop and transform the State.
“I will not disappoint you as your Son, neither would I disappoint the Governor who reposed this confidence in me to pilot the affairs of the Local Government Council at this critical period.
“As a Council, we would concentrate on policies, programmes and activities that would add value and have direct impact on the people. We are not unawares of the numerous challenges confronting us, but we would not be deterred in our commitment to provide democratic
dividends to the doorsteps of the People.
“What we need is your prayers and support to excel and address the problems we are faced with. Let me assure you that your security, welfare, agriculture and empowerment remain top priorities to us and we would do our best with the available resources. We would not rest until we provide good governance to the people”
Gwom Jol His Royal Highness Da Thomas Darian Dafwol, Pastor James Joro Jol Stakeholders’ Public Relations Officer, Friday Bako Secretary of Jol Stakeholders, Samuel Zongs, Mr Gyang Davou, Hon. Pam Davit Madu in their separate remarks appreciated Governor Caleb Mutfwang for finding one of their own worthy of being appointed as the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman Riyom Local Government Council.
They said the appointment is well deserved considering the credibility, capacity and forthrightness of Hon. Sati Bature Shuwa.
They admonished him to justify the trust and confidence reposed in him by the Executive Governor by performing exceptionally. They promised to support Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman, Hon. Sati Shuwa in order for them to succeed in the governance process.
“This is the first time we are occupying such exalted position since the creation of Riyom Local Government Area and we are grateful and appreciative that an illustrious Son with proven integrity is chosen to pilot the affairs of the Council.
We know he would make us proud by providing the much needed dividends of democracy to the People” they said.
Personal Assistant to the Chairman, Hon. Pam Davit Madu donated wrappers to 50 Widows in the village while Hon. Sati Shuwa donated money to them to alleviate their sufferings.
Highlight of the event was the final of the Unity Football Competition between Tanjol Football Club (FC) and Darin Football Club in which Darin FC won by a lone goal to pick the trophy.
Prayers were also made to the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman, Hon. Sati Shuwa and his cabinet.
