Jos Community Gears Up for Monthly Sanitation Exercise on May 25th, 2024
Jos, Nigeria – The Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) has announced that the city’s regular monthly sanitation exercise will take place on Saturday, May 25th, 2024. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment in Jos.
Special Arrangements for University of Jos Students
To accommodate University of Jos students who will be writing exams on the same day, PEPSA has implemented special measures to ensure minimal disruption:
- Permitted Movement: Buses, commercial taxis, and tricycles transporting University of Jos students will be allowed to operate.
- Essential Services: Individuals providing essential services will also have permission to move during the exercise.
Compliance Requirements for Business Owners
Business owners within the Jos-Bukuru Metropolis are required to adhere to the sanitation guidelines by ceasing operations during the exercise. This temporary halt in business activities is essential for the effectiveness of the cleanup efforts.
Restrictions and Supervision
To ensure the sanitation exercise is carried out effectively, entry and exit within the city center will be restricted. PEPSA teams will conduct supervision rounds to ensure compliance with these measures. Residents are urged to cooperate fully to support this important environmental initiative.
Official Statement
Samuel Nathaniel Dapiya, Director General of PEPSA, expressed his gratitude for the community’s understanding and cooperation. “Your participation is vital in making Jos a cleaner and healthier place for everyone. We appreciate your support in adhering to these guidelines.”
