In a historic gathering at the Nigeria Music House in Lekki, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) came together to address the pressing issue of drug abuse within the nation.
At this pivotal meeting, leaders from both organizations proposed a collaborative initiative to utilize music as a tool for spreading awareness and combating the pervasive problem of illicit substance abuse.
Brig. General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Retd) CON, OFR, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, emphasized the importance of leveraging music’s influential platform to convey messages of prevention and rehabilitation. This strategic alliance received unanimous support, highlighting a shared dedication to enacting positive change within Nigerian communities.
In recognition of PMAN’s proactive role in promoting societal well-being, Mr. Pretty Okafor, President of PMAN, was honored by the NDLEA Chairman for his exemplary leadership and vision. Mr. Okafor outlined PMAN’s ambitious plans to establish rehabilitation centers for substance-dependent individuals, showcasing the organization’s unwavering commitment to tackling the root causes of drug abuse.
