Today, on July 12, 2023, a Combat Team from Operation SAFE HAVEN encountered an ambush while attending to a distress call in Mangu LGA. The ambush took place on Road Mangun – Pushit – Mangu and was carried out by a group of bandits, suspected to be part of the troublemakers causing unrest in Mangu LGA
The ambush was effectively and professionally cleared by the troops, resulting in the neutralization of three bandits. During the operation, they also recovered three AK 47 rifles, along with 14 rounds of 7.62 Special ammunition, one motorcycle, and a Constabulary Police ID card. The remaining bandits managed to escape but sustained gunshot wounds.
Major General AE Abubakar, the Commander Operations SAFE HAVEN and General Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division, emphasized that the Nigerian Army remains unwavering in fulfilling its duties within the boundaries of the law. He reaffirmed their commitment to being firm, bold, decisive, and fair.
Furthermore, he highlighted that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens is of utmost importance. With the relocation of his Headquarters to Mangu LGA, prompt responses to distress calls are guaranteed. Numerous Combat Teams have been deployed to remote areas in the Local Government, ensuring an enhanced rapid response capability.
