Panyam, Plateau State — Over 500 residents of the Panyam community in Mangu Local Government Area have received free healthcare services during a medical outreach held on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The initiative, organized and sponsored by Dr. Daniel Meshak, a Consultant Family Physician and Public Health Professional, took place at the LEA Central Primary School, Panyam.
The program aimed to provide healthcare services to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, women, and children, who often face limited access to medical care. Dr. Meshak, a proud son of the Panyam district, emphasized that the outreach was driven by his passion for community development and the belief in selfless service.
Quoting Wayne Muller, Dr. Meshak shared his philosophy: “As we serve others, we work on ourselves; every act of genuine compassion nourishes our hearts.” He further stated that true progress is achieved when people prioritize the needs of others over personal interests.
The outreach featured a team of experienced medical professionals and volunteers offering various services, including:
- Eye examinations and free distribution of eyeglasses
- Vital signs monitoring, such as blood pressure checks
- X-rays and consultations with medical doctors
- Free medications
- Preliminary screenings for surgeries planned for the following year
Prominent figures, including Chief Dr. Moses Nwan, Executive Private Secretary to the Plateau State Governor, and Da. Engr. Aminu Derwam, District Head of Panyam, were present. They commended Dr. Meshak’s dedication and vision, emphasizing the positive impact of the initiative on the community’s health.
Beneficiaries of the program expressed heartfelt gratitude. Mr. Pede Filibus Santana, a participant, shared, “This initiative gave us the opportunity to check our health status, which we wouldn’t have accessed easily. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Meshak and his team for this life-changing opportunity.”
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Persis Samuel from Larkas Village, said, “I had my eyes screened and received free eyeglasses. This outreach has been a blessing to me and many others. May God bless the organizers for their kindness.”

Residents have continued to celebrate the initiative, offering prayers and blessings for Dr. Meshak and his team for their dedication to bringing healthcare closer to the people.
