The Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association (PLABOMA) has reiterated its commitment to fostering public trust and awareness through digital media in a courtesy visit to the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS).

Speaking during the event, the Chairman of PLABOMA, Matthew Tegha, delivered a thought-provoking speech emphasizing the vital role of taxation in driving development across Plateau State.

In his address, Mr. Tegha highlighted the critical need for collaboration between PSIRS and PLABOMA to enhance tax compliance and engagement:

“The Plateau State Internal Revenue Service is undeniably a cornerstone in the development of our state, ensuring that vital resources are mobilized to fund key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other aspects of public welfare. Together, we can craft and disseminate educational campaigns that link tax compliance to the tangible benefits citizens enjoy.”

He proposed a year-long retainership agreement, stating that PLABOMA would dedicate its expertise in digital storytelling and public engagement to amplify PSIRS activities.

“Through our platforms, we can provide real-time updates, counter misinformation, and help the people of Plateau State better understand their role in contributing to societal development. This collaboration will foster transparency and trust while enhancing revenue generation for the greater good of our state.”

In response, the Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, Jim Pam Wayas, commended PLABOMA for its proactive engagement and innovative vision.

“I am deeply impressed by the enthusiasm and dedication of the Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association,” he began.

“The PSIRS understands the importance of communication and public engagement in achieving our mandate. We recognize the immense potential of digital platforms in bridging the gap between government institutions and the public. Your proposal for a partnership aligns perfectly with our objectives, and I am confident that this collaboration will yield great results.”

Mr. Wayas emphasized the agency’s commitment to exploring meaningful partnerships with stakeholders and assured PLABOMA of the agency’s openness to working together on tax sensitization and compliance campaigns.

“We look forward to creating a more informed and responsible citizenry through your expertise in digital communication. This initiative marks the beginning of a new chapter in our approach to tax education,” he concluded.

The courtesy visit was described by attendees as a promising step toward a productive partnership aimed at advancing Plateau State’s economic and social development.
