PLASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Matur Addresses Striking Workers, Seek for Collaboration

Plateau State University, Bokkos, stands at the forefront of constructive dialogue and collaboration, as reaffirmed by its Vice Chancellor, Professor Bernard Matur. In a press briefing on Friday, Professor Matur addressed the concerns raised by academic workers, assuring a swift resolution within a week.

Professor Matur highlighted significant achievements during his five-month tenure, including faculty expansion, salary arrears payment, academic allowances clearance, promotion allowances settlement, and infrastructural improvements. Security enhancements, such as police and military presence, showcase the institution’s commitment to safety.

Reflecting on the university’s history, Professor Matur shared insights into new programs and NUC approvals, emphasizing strategic expansion to meet evolving educational needs. The Faculty of Sciences is set to introduce three new programs, addressing both NUC and JAMB admission requirements.

Acknowledging Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s support, Professor Matur praised the administration’s commitment to accreditation, salary arrears payment, and academic allowances clearance. The security apparatus received a significant boost under the current administration, ensuring a total of 21 professional hunters for campus safety.

Professor Matur urged students to continue academic activities and registration, assuring ongoing negotiations with striking lecturers and expressing optimism for a swift resolution.
