The high rate of insecurity on the plateau is alarming despite the efforts of security agencies!!
Plateau state of recent has witnessed some isolated acts of criminality such as Kidnapping, cultism, robbery etc making the entire state not too safe for people to go about with their normal activities. One would ask who is to be blamed? The government ? Or security agencies?
Security agencies have carried out a couple of raids and arrests of kidnappers,cultists within Jos /Bukuru Metropolis including our villages where some innocent people were murdered. One would begin to ask has any of the culprits been successfully prosecuted? If no,why? These are pertinent questions we the citizens need to ask. Do we need enabling laws to enhance the operations of security agencies as well as prosecution of culprits? Secondly, where are the CCTVs that the State government installed early this year?
How come such CCTVs can’t track any culprits in the act? How come Kidnapping is still successfully carried out in isolated places in the state without any track?
Can plateau achieve any meaningful development under such tensed scenario? The state Government needs to brace up and be proactive and learn from other state governments where security is given priority as well as deliberately synergying with the security agencies to restore law and order in their states.
How is Gov Lalong synergizing with security agencies in safeguarding the lives and properties in the State. A lot more can be achieved if truly the government is sensitive to the plea of it’s citizens. Despite the efforts of security agencies, some citizens are living in fear in their homes. Most areas are not safe, people don’t feel secure outside neither inside their houses. Plateau people are crying out loud to the government and security agencies to work together to restore peace to the state by weeding out the bad eggs and duly prosecute them for others to know that Plateau is no safe haven for them.
