The Plateau State Chapter of the Performing Musicians Association and Employers of Nigeria (PMAN) has voiced its strong disapproval and concerns surrounding the recent Plateau Got Talent event. The competition’s legitimacy and its representation of Plateau State’s rich music culture are under scrutiny.

The controversy revolves around the competition’s latest winner, raising doubts about the ability of Plateau Got Talent to identify and promote genuine talent within the state. In response to these developments, Plateau PMAN, led by State PMAN Governor Comrade Color Humphery Iroegbu, has imposed a ban on COA Media, the organizers of Plateau Got Talent, preventing them from hosting similar events until a comprehensive evaluation and upgrade aligning with industry standards are completed and approved by PMAN.

Plateau State is renowned for its musical history and local talent, having produced globally recognized artists like 2baba, Mi Abaga, Ruby Gyang, and Ice Prince. However, Plateau Got Talent has failed to capture the true essence of the state’s remarkable talent. It is with a heavy heart that Plateau PMAN denounces the recent proceedings of this talent show.

The disappointment extends beyond the artists of Plateau to the broader community, as the event organizers seem to prioritize sensationalism and profit over nurturing local talent. The union, in collaboration with the State government, is dedicated to creating an enabling environment for entertainment on the Plateau and upholding the highest standards of talent promotion.

Comrade Color Humphery Iroegbu, the State PMAN Governor, emphasizes the need for Plateau Got Talent to reevaluate its values and responsibilities to the Plateau State artistic community. The Plateau PMAN is ready to offer support and insights to ensure that future events align with the rich musical history of the state and nurture the next generation of musical stars.

Collective efforts are crucial to promoting genuine Plateau talent, fostering a vibrant and sustainable musical environment for artists and the broader community.

Signed,

Comrade Color Humphery Iroegbu
Governor, Performing Musicians Association and Employers of Nigeria (PMAN)
