The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Plateau State chapter have responded to the recent saga going round the social media about Terry G’s refusal to turn up for an event which he was paid for to perform in Jos on Sunday 25th September, 2022
Amb. Comr. IROEGBU Humphrey, PMAN Governor, Plateau State Chapter in a statement fumes at the incident as stated below.
“It has come to the notice of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) Plateau State Chapter of an ongoing saga between an entertainment company here on the Plateau and a popular musical artiste in Lagos called “Terry G” the Akpako crooner.
According to the informations that got to us, states that; “Terry G” was invited for performance here in Jos, Plateau State by the said entertainment company and that they have paid him all that was required in full but never showed up for the event. On hearing this, the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) Plateau State Chapter communicated with the National body for an in-depth investigation of the issue in order to investigate and better deal with future occurrences. The PMAN National Body got in touch with the artiste “Terry G” and in his words, he responded through the National Secretary Comr. Ital Bonny that “the organizers of the event did not meet up with the agreement”. On hearing this, the governor of PMAN Plateau State Chapter Comr. Humphrey Iroegbu (Colour) received a conference call between one of the event organizers and Terry G’s manager in the person of Mr. Montero and he confirmed that the agreed amount was paid in full but Terry G in the other side told PMAN National Body that the organizers didn’t meet up with the terms of their agreement.
I believe we all can recall that similar incident happened in the past on the Plateau, where an artiste from Lagos is acknowledged, respected, invited and lastly meeting up with all the requirements as agreed in the contract and they end up not showing up or the event organizers failed on their own part to meeting up with the requirements as agreed in the contracts thereby exploiting innocent citizens of their hard earned resources. For that reason; we will stop at nothing, until we get the root of this matter to know if the fault is coming from the Event Organizers or Artistes/Artiste Management.
We will not allow anyone “elsewhere or within” to spoil or destroy the image of our entertainment industry here on the Plateau. For that reason, PMAN is presently on its toes to carefully and specifically find out what went wrong to avoid further occurrences in the State.
It is a very big crime to give hopes to the general public that an artiste or entertainer is coming to graze an event and at the end they fail to turn up. This is unacceptable and will never be tolerated either by the artiste, entertainer of any sort or event organizer who’s found wanting. All measures including legal steps will be taken to investigate and address this issues to put a stop to this misfortunes.
We encourage and urge all event organizers, before organizing any event more especially that which involves bringing an artiste or entertainer elsewhere, do yourself the Favour of letting the PMAN UNION know. This is because, the union is the network of all artistes and entertainers covering the whole 36 States with it’s headquarters in Lagos. They will help you follow up the artiste or entertainer to make sure He/She turns up and also make sure that both sides of the contracts is not compromised. This will give the general public a level of trust for your brand, knowing that you are dealing with the standard UNION and also believing that you can always deliver.
The existing collaboration between PMAN, NCC and the federal government will go a long way in dealing with issues like this. This is to inform experienced and inexperienced artistes, entertainers and event organizers that Bypassing the PMAN as a UNION will do you no good but harm and May lead to the devaluation of your brand when things like this spring up. Always deal with the UNION” for a soft landing to bringing out the best in your brand or company.
We want to assure the general public that we the organized union of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) Plateau State Chapter, are on top of the situation as stated above to get to the root of this situation, addressing it amicably and also getting the general public informed as soon as the process is completed”.
