Portable arrested by Ogun State Police
The Ogun State police leadership has finally made an arrest of Nigerian singer Portable. The arrest is coming days after the singer refused to honour the police invitation.
Remember that on Tuesday, recordings of the street performer cursing a few Nigerian policemen appeared online.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, commented on the development and verified the arrest of the singer. He revealed that Portable was currently resting at the state police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
According to Mr. Oyeyemi, the Zazuu crooner was detained after turning down five offers. Until Monday, when he will be charged in court, the singer will be held by authorities.
Recall that early this week Portable had gotten himself into more trouble because of his altercation with Ogun state police.
In a viral video shared on Tuesday, Portable could be seen creating a scene as he demanded an explanation for the officers’ presence, with the operatives notifying him that a petition was filed against him.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi while reacting to the viral video of Portable cursing police officers, disclosed that the singer is likely to face persecution.
The CSP explained that some Police officers had stormed his bar to arrest him following his refusal to go honour previous invitations.
The police force said the artist exhibited irrational behaviour and hurled insults at police officers carrying out their legal duty.
According to him, the action is criminal and punishable by the criminal laws of Nigeria.
