On May 3, the newly elected president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praised Nyesome Wike, the governor of Rivers state, for his assistance during the election.
Wike’s ethics and morals were commended, and it was pointed out that the governor supported harmony and justice during the election.
Speaking during the opening of the Raumuokwuta/Rumuola flyover bridge in Port Harcourt, Tinubu said that Wike’s backing was essential to his victory.
In his own words: “I underwent a painful campaign, battled hard, had a lot of your support, and I won. True and accurate. I’d like to thank you, Nyesom, for helping me win. Without some structural support that is impossible to describe in a flyby, I couldn’t have done it”, he said.
“I recognize a man of principles in his excellency. He had the guts to stand by his conviction that the South should win the presidency, regardless of whose ox was put to death.
He is undoubtedly a man of great integrity; he chose to serve the needs of the country rather than his own. You championed justice, promoting fairness, harmony, and equality. Thank you,” added Tinubu.
