Eleven individuals are now on the wanted list according to the Military Taskforce responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau State, Nigeria. Tezungwe Iyua, the deputy commander of Operation Safe Haven, announced this during a press conference held on Friday in Jos.
Iyua stated that all the individuals listed as wanted are men. The names released include Sanusi Dafor, Hassan Waje, Ja’afaru Matakala, Dudi Mohammadu, Habu Mohammadu, Rabiu Ibrahim, Buba Sobe, Senfos Gaine, Nahaska Boderi, and Muhammadu MP.
These suspects are wanted in connection with various attacks that have resulted in multiple deaths and significant property damage across the state. Deputy Commander Iyua emphasized, “Operation Safe Haven has been actively working to secure lives and property within the Joint Operations Area. Unfortunately, these efforts are sometimes thwarted by those intent on disrupting peace. The attacks on parts of Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas on Christmas Eve 2023 are notable examples.”
He continued, “While we were striving to restore peace, additional attacks occurred in Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas on April 19-20, 2024, and May 8, 2024, leading to further loss of lives and property.”
Iyua affirmed that Operation Safe Haven remains committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice. “We have been conducting intelligence-led operations, resulting in the apprehension of many involved in these attacks. For those still at large, we have utilized technology for forensic examinations to identify them. Consequently, these nine individuals are wanted for questioning regarding their involvement in attacks throughout Plateau State.”
The Deputy Commander urged anyone with information about the suspects’ whereabouts to contact the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Police Force, or Operation Safe Haven. He also mentioned that a significant reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of any of the wanted suspects.
In conclusion, Iyua stated, “Security agencies are determined to leave no stone unturned in bringing those responsible for violence to justice. We urge the public to collaborate with security agencies by providing credible information to help protect law-abiding citizens in Plateau State and surrounding areas.”
