In what looks like an endorsement of his gubernatorial ambition, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP delegates of Langtang North and South local governments have promised to queue behind their in-law, Hon Dr Golu Timothy in next week’s primary elections to elect him as the flagbearer of the party.
It was a great boost to his ambition as the delegates took turns to describe him as a known face, familiar political player and excellent performer who has done Plateau State proud. The delegates showed encomium on Golu describing him as a worthy in-law who has related very well with his in-laws and the political players of the southern zone.
Golu was in Langtang North and South, Wase, Mikang and Quanpan with his wife, Chalya Golu to woo the delegates to support him in his quest to become the governorship candidate of the party in the 2023 general elections. They described Golu as a patriotic and loyal party man who has worked hard to protect and defend the party and remained very committed inspite of challenges.
According to them, Golu’s experience as a State and federal legislator of repute and an international journalist, has put him on a higher advantage in the race for the governorship.
The Chairman of Langtang North local government, Hon Dr Ubandoma Joshua Laven who was on ground commended Golu for his steadfast commitment and loyalty to the party. He enjoined the delegates to rate each aspirant according to his contribution to the party and not how much money he brings to them.
The Chairmen of Langtang North and South, Hon Ventim Black and Hon Nanfa respectively, assured the governorship hopeful that,” with our illustrious daughter in your house, we are very confident that you will not abandon your in-laws. We know you, we know your antecedents and can testify about your laudable achievements both in the state and federal legislative houses”.
“You have remained a committed democrat, loyal party man and a wonderful in-law to the Tarok Nation who has been part of us. We are very proud of you and therefore will not disappoint you. With our daughter as first lady, we believe that power will still be in the South come 2023”.
Golu and his wife Chalya were full of joy as they assured the delegates of their unflinching desire to fix back Plateau and restore its lost glory. He commended his in-laws for standing strong in the face of the impunity of Governor Simon Lalong who has flagrantly disobeyed the courts in allowing Hon Dr Laven Ubandoma occupy his due office as Chairman of Langtang North.
In was an interesting twist in the permutations ahead of the 2023 polls as no other aspirant was accorded such a historic recognition as done Golu.
Dr Golu, his wife and entourage appealed to the party EXCO and delegates to consider his experience haven served as a Legislator at the State and National Assemblies respectively.
Mrs Chalya, a Tarok daughter, was full of praises for her people whom she commended for their commitment to democracy, unity and peace. She spoke to the delegates with a passionate appeal to vote her husband, assuring them that they will not regret it.
Responding differently, various delegates gave their commitments to vote for Dr Timothy Golu first because of his competence and historic relationship with the political structures of the Tarok Nation. Secondly, they commended Mrs Golu for always identifying with them, and that as a potential First lady, she will always ensure that her people are carried along.
