Frontline political figure and development advocate, Alfred Dapal Damiyal (ADD), has officially declared his intention to contest for the office of Governor of Plateau State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The declaration follows his wide ranging consultations with PDP stakeholders, respected senior citizens of Plateau State, dynamic youths, influential market players, opinion leaders, and the dedicated civil servants of the state. It underscores his firm readiness to obtain the party’s governorship nomination form marking a courageous step toward delivering purposeful leadership and unveiling a renewed, transformative vision for Plateau State.
Addressing reporters, Damiyal emphasized his commitment to restoring unity, strengthening institutions, and driving sustainable development across all sectors of the state.
“Plateau State stands at a critical juncture in its history. This is a time that demands visionary leadership, inclusive governance, and decisive action. I am stepping forward, not just as an aspirant, but as a servant leader committed to the progress, peace, and prosperity of our people,” he stated.
Damiyal highlighted key priorities of his proposed administration to include economic revitalization, youth empowerment, security, infrastructure development, and the promotion of peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities in Plateau State.
His campaign is anchored on the slogan “NEW THINKING for a NEW PLATEAU,” a call for fresh ideas, innovative policies, and a break from conventional approaches to governance. The slogan reflects his belief that Plateau’s challenges require bold, forward-looking solutions driven by creativity, inclusiveness, and strategic planning to unlock the state’s full potential.
He also called on party faithful, stakeholders, and citizens across the state to rally behind a shared vision to rebuild and reposition Plateau for greater opportunities.
