The (CAF) Appeal Board has ruled in favor of Morocco, overturning the outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final and declaring Morocco champions after Senegal was found to have forfeited the match.
The decision followed an appeal by the (FRMF), which challenged incidents that occurred during the final. CAF confirmed that Senegal’s actions breached Articles 82 and 84 of AFCON regulations, leading to an official 3–0 victory awarded to Morocco.
According to the ruling, the (FSF) was held accountable for the conduct of its team, validating Morocco’s protest and sealing the title decision.
In a related verdict, Moroccan midfielder was found guilty of misconduct. However, his punishment was reduced to a two-match suspension, with one match suspended, and a previously imposed $100,000 fine was cancelled.
CAF also addressed off-field issues involving Morocco. The federation was sanctioned for the actions of ball boys, with the fine reduced to $50,000. A separate $100,000 fine for interference near the VAR area was upheld, while a penalty linked to a laser incident was lowered to $10,000.
All other appeals were dismissed, bringing closure to one of the most controversial AFCON finals in recent history. The ruling ends a prolonged dispute and underscores CAF’s commitment to enforcing discipline and regulations in major continental competitions.
