Berom Progressive Minds (BPM) Inaugurates New Excos, Sets a Path for Community Advancement

Amidst a splendid event conducted on Sunday, October 1st, 2023, the Berom Progressive Minds (BPM), comprised of accomplished individuals representing the Berom community, officially initiated their recently elected leadership team, entrusted with guiding the organization for the upcoming three years. Dr. Samuel Kwis, a distinguished advocate for cancer awareness and an expert in radiation and clinical oncology from the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), now heads the newly appointed executive council, assuming the responsibilities of leadership.

During his opening address, Da Gyang Dudu, the organizer of the association and a retired senior officer from the Nigeria Customs Service, as well as the President of the Berom Apex Organization, Berom Educational and Cultural Organization (BECO), expressed gratitude to the members for embracing the group’s vision. He took the opportunity to provide a comprehensive overview of the group’s founding principles, shedding light on the objectives behind its establishment and highlighting some of the initiatives and endeavors it has undertaken to foster greater unity and development within the Berom Nation, Plateau State, Nigeria, and on a global scale.

He revealed the group’s unwavering commitment to continue making a purposeful impact and encouraged members to enhance their dedication while demonstrating true patriotism, all in pursuit of the group’s overarching mission. He emphasized that the event’s primary purpose was to officially inaugurate the first elected executives of the group and to celebrate its members who have achieved success in various elective positions and appointments in the political sphere.

Da Dudu charged those elected and appointed not to disappoint the group but be good ambassadors and make it proud. He appreciated the Mutfwang-led administration for finding Members of the group competent and worthy to be appointed to serve in his government assuring him that they are trusted and capable to deliver creditably well.

In his remarks, the outgoing National Coordinator, Hon. Pamson Dagyat appreciated the Members for the support accorded him throughout his tenure.

He reeled out some achievements made under his administration, which he said brought about tremendous impacts to the Berom Nation, and said that wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions from members. He said the group was able to undertake several humanitarian interventions that ameliorate the sufferings and plights of victims of attacks across the Berom Nation.

“Though our Administrator was not without its highs and lows, we were able to record remarkable progress and I pray the incoming Executives consolidate on our gains and do more.

“BPM has extended a helping hand to victims of terrorist attacks in various areas of Berom land, including Barkin Ladi, Jol in Riyom, and parts of Jos South. Food items and clothing were provided to these affected individuals. “BPM collaborated with organizations like the Stefanos Foundation and other NGOs to alleviate the suffering of displaced persons in Berom land. Palliatives were also given to widows and vulnerable individuals in Chuwelyap Congo Russia

“In 2016, BPM provided significant relief materials to the people of Southern Kaduna.

“BPM has sponsored the education of children affected by terrorism, ensuring they can continue their studies.

BPM has rescued numerous trafficked children from communities like Tahoss and Hoss, both in Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). These children were reunited with their families, and BPM provided sponsorship for their artisan skills development.

BPM has sourced and donated wheelchairs to victims who have been left crippled by the terror attacks” he said

According to him BPM organized a medical outreach program in Hoss and Riyom, donated mattresses and clothing.

He went further to laud the successful conduct of the first election of the group, which he said was without any cases of over-voting or petitions.

While presenting Certificates of Return to the Dr. Sam Kwis-led Executives, Pharm. Kaneng Pwol, the Electoral Committee Chairperson, acknowledged what she termed the remarkable dedication and enthusiasm displayed by all members throughout the election, which was conducted electronically and online in August 2023. She averred that the commitment, active participation, and unwavering support that led to the huge success recorded during the election are a testament to the strength and vitality of BPM.

She stated that “the collective spirit we have witnessed during this election reflects the deep-rooted passion we all share for the growth of Berom land”

She admonished the new Executives to be be guided by the motto of the group which is “Yaga Renuyel Vwel Mot” (for the progress of our land)

Speaking on behalf of the new Executives shortly after their Inauguration, Dr. Samuel Kwis appreciated the Members for finding them worthy to serve as their leaders and promised not to derail from the vision of the group.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to lead such a talented and dedicated group of individuals. Your support and cooperation will be instrumental in our collective success. Let us embrace this new chapter with enthusiasm and determination, as we work hand in hand to achieve greatness” he hinted.

He declared that in order to hit the ground running from day one as an Executive Council, they will work to ensure that the strategic plan document of BPM comes to fruition.

He applauded the Electoral Committee for its ingenuity in the maiden elections of the group which brought them on board to serve.

Goodwill messages came from the Senate Minority Leader Sen. Simon Mwadkwon who had the representation of Dr. Chomo Datiyi, Plateau State Commissioner of Transport Hon. Davou Gyang Jatau, the Executive Chairman Plateau State Internal Revenue Service Hon. Jim Pam Wayas, Pharm. Chun John Ezekiel of the Abuja Liaison Directorate who was represented by Hon. Rondong Wash Pam, Da Stephen James Pam, Barr. Samson Chuwang Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Dagwom Dang PhD Member College of Education Gindiri Visiting Panel and Pharm. Kim Jerry Bot Member School of Nursing Vom Visiting Panel who appreciated the group for the reception in their honour and promised to be good Ambassadors in their respective Offices. They said they will not disappoint the group but justify their appointments with optimal performance.

Among those sworn in were Barr. Samson Chuwang as Administrator 1, Rex Cheng Administrator 2, Friday Bako Financial Secretary, Rebecca Shon Treasurer and Tok Morgan Publicity Secretary.

Highlights of the event were live performance by some Berom Artistes, presentation of commendation/congratulatory letter to the outgoing Executives and political Appointees.

The event held at Greatlinks Continental Suites Gold and Base Jos, Plateau State Capital and was well attended by Members of the group, their Family Members and Friends.

AMB. MARK ADAMS MAIMAKO BAGGED AN AWARD AS BEST HUMANITARIAN FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE IN THE PLATEAU SOCIAL MEDIA AWARDS

His indepth gratitude was immeasurable and knew no bounds and that he felt the encouragement and the challenge to do better. He left no one in any doubt that his choice was one of its kind and that his motivational ingenuity had been put on further pendulum swing for which he would forever remained thankful.

He encouraged the orphans at CLAPAI Orphanage to be strengthened by his story in the fact that what the good LORD had blessed, no situation, natural or environmental can put to test or change. He urged them to keep faith with destiny-divine and to draw inspirational strength in the reality that they would do even better than those who rose on the wings of absolute parental privileges. He however, assured that their future were bright and warned that they would only propel into achieving greatness through self discipline and determination on target-based posture under God.

He prayed God to increase organizers in incremental wisdom of thoughts and in the knowledge identifying potentials in the society for recognition, and sought the grace and protection of God to lead everyone in safety to their respective destinations.

The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) Plateau State Chapter gathered on a solemn day, the 30th of September, 2023, to bid a final farewell to one of its remarkable talents, the afro fusion/R&B sensation singer, Mr. M. The iconic artiste was laid to rest on the family’s land in Dong, just after Wildlife Park. This heartfelt tribute marks the end of an era, celebrating an artiste who left an indelible mark on the Nigerian music scene.

Before his untimely passing on the 24th of September, 2023, Mr. M had faced immense adversity. In 2019, he survived a ghastly motor accident that left him battling with health challenges. For the subsequent four years, he valiantly fought his battle while confined to a wheelchair. His resilience and unwavering spirit inspired all who knew him.

Mohbad: Naira Marley Pledges to Clear His Name, Eager to Aid Police Inquiry

In the wake of the passing of Nigerian musician Ilerioulwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, Azeez Fashola, the owner of Marlian Music records, and also known as Naira Marley, has affirmed his determination to vindicate himself and demonstrate his innocence in connection with Mohbad’s demise.

Naira Marley conveyed this message through a statement shared on his Instagram account on Tuesday. He additionally expressed his willingness to cooperate with the police inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the tragic passing of his former signee, Mohbad.

Expressing his readiness to collaborate with the relevant authorities in the investigative process, Naira Marley stated, “In light of the police’s invitation, I am in the process of returning to the country to facilitate the investigation and present my account of the events. I am fully cooperating with the police team, and I have no reason to evade justice when I played no role in his demise.”

“In due course, the truth about Mohbad’s death will be unveiled, and the world will come to understand the reality of the situation. Such attempts to frame someone are not unprecedented in the industry, as other esteemed musicians have faced similar challenges and emerged even stronger. My situation will be no different because I am innocent of the allegations,” the statement read in part.

Naira Marley elaborated further, explaining that since Mohbad’s departure from the record label in September 2022, and the label’s acceptance of his exit, “Marlian Music has not hindered his career or music releases, as he has been associated with oneRPM. Legal steps were taken to address his concerns regarding our past collaborations.”

Mohbad was laid to rest on September 13. However, in light of an investigation by the Lagos State Police Command to uncover the circumstances of his passing, his remains were exhumed for a post-mortem examination.
