CDCFIB Reopens Recruitment Portal October 28 for Successful Candidates

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced that its recruitment portal will reopen from October 28 to November 13, 2026, for successful candidates to check their application status and obtain codes for mandatory drug screening.

The Board clarified that the exercise is a continuation of the ongoing recruitment process and does not constitute a fresh recruitment exercise.

The Secretary to the Board, Maj. Gen. A.M. Jibril (rtd.), disclosed this on Thursday during the Board’s second meeting for 2026, stating that candidates who had progressed through the medical examination, oral interview and other stages of the recruitment process must complete the drug screening before collecting their appointment letters.

According to Jibril, eligible candidates are expected to log on to the official CDCFIB recruitment portal within the stipulated period to confirm their application status and obtain the necessary codes for the screening.

He explained that the mandatory drug test would be conducted at offices of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the respective states of the candidates.

The Board Secretary emphasised that the screening would be free of charge, as the Federal Government would bear the cost of the exercise.

He warned candidates against paying individuals or intermediaries for the drug test, urging anyone who is asked to pay for the screening to report the matter to the nearest security agency.

Jibril further disclosed that candidates would receive their drug test results immediately after the screening, allowing those who meet the requirements to proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process.

He added that candidates who successfully complete the screening would proceed to Abuja to collect their appointment letters, provided they satisfy all other recruitment requirements.

The Board Secretary stressed that a certificate confirming candidates are free from illegal drug use is a mandatory requirement for collecting appointment letters, in accordance with the Federal Government’s directive on drug screening for prospective employees.

The ongoing recruitment exercise covers four paramilitary agencies: the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Jibril explained that the recruitment of 30,000 personnel represents the first phase of the Federal Government’s broader plan to recruit 120,000 young Nigerians into the four agencies during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s first tenure.

According to him, the recruitment exercise, alongside other personnel and welfare reforms, is designed to strengthen the agencies and improve their capacity to discharge their statutory responsibilities.

He urged candidates who had reached the oral interview stage to monitor the official CDCFIB recruitment portal between October 28 and November 13, 2026, for updates on their application status, drug screening codes and further instructions.

Jibril reiterated that the Federal Government would fund the screening and advised candidates to avoid anyone demanding payment or promising to facilitate their recruitment.

Candidates are therefore advised to rely on official CDCFIB communications for accurate information regarding the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
