Praising Governor Mutfwang’s efforts to engage with the business community

Chief Kefas Ropshik, the 2023 Plateau State Governorship Aspirant and CEO of Kefiano Motors, has commended the commitment of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to fostering relationships with the business community in Jos.

Speaking at a dinner organized by the Plateau State Government with the business community at the Government House in Jos, Chief Ropshik emphasized the urgent need for economic empowerment and industrial development in Plateau State.

He highlighted that while the primary purpose of business is to create wealth and earn a living, the issue of capital flight has significantly hampered the state’s economic growth. To address this, Chief Ropshik called on the government to enact a law requiring that at least 70% of government contracts be awarded to Plateau indigenes. He argued that this would help retain money within the state and improve the quality of life for its residents.

Chief Ropshik also stressed the importance of entrepreneurship development, noting that 70-80% of businesses in the state are currently owned by non-indigenes. He urged the government to implement programs that identify and empower local entrepreneurs, offering them training, start-up capital, and data management support.

Popularly known as Kefiano, Chief Ropshik further underscored the need for industrial development in the state. He appealed to the government to establish industries such as rice mills and maize processing factories, believing that these initiatives would transform Plateau’s economy and create employment opportunities for its people.

In addition, Chief Ropshik challenged Governor Mutfwang to establish an institutional framework for monitoring and evaluating job performance across the state. He suggested that this would ensure quality workmanship in construction projects and other government activities by providing expert assessments and evaluations.
