In a remarkable event that took place on August 13th, 2023, the esteemed media organization City Report, based in Jos, proudly hosted its second annual event titled the “Plateau Youth Debate.” This event was organized in commemoration of International Youth Day and was held at NBTT, Adjacent Crest Hotel, Jos.
Gathering numerous young individuals from across the state, the event revolved around a spirited discussion on the topic “Student Loan Act: A Catalyst for Educational Enhancement?” The youth participants presented differing viewpoints, with some advocating for the motion and others opposing it.

The engaged audience mirrored the diverse opinions, showing support or opposition to the topic. Among the participants, Mr. Yusuf Jang Davou conveyed his belief that the Plateau Youth Debate serves as an influential platform to ignite a sense of responsibility among the youth, urging them to stand for what is just. He extended his appreciation to the debate organizers and encouraged them to persevere in their efforts for the betterment of the youth’s future.
The debate concluded amid a jubilant atmosphere, followed by captivating performances from musical artists and poets. Additionally, City Report presented awards to individuals who have made a significant impact in humanitarian services.

One of the awardees, Amb Comr Joseph Ezekiel, acknowledged the honor bestowed upon him for his contributions to Youth Empowerment. He commended the organizers for their work and urged them to continue, while also calling on the government and other stakeholders to embrace this commendable initiative, emphasizing its potential to bolster the capabilities and talents of the youth.
