The Department of State Security (DSS) recently closed AL-Ihsan clinic in the Unguwan Rogo Community of Jos North, Plateau State, after serious accusations of fraudulent medical practices and a patient’s death.
The controversy began last week when a local woman died following surgery at the clinic, purportedly conducted by an unqualified individual posing as a doctor. The incident ignited widespread concern over the legitimacy of the medical practices at the clinic.
Community sources confirmed that the closure by the DSS was prompted by several complaints to both the state Ministry of Health and the DSS, accusing the clinic of engaging in quackery.
Community member Sadis Albasu provided insights into the gravity of the situation. He highlighted that the clinic was sealed primarily because of the unauthorized medical practices uncovered following the tragic incident. The supposed surgeon was revealed to be a student who was neither certified nor qualified to perform medical procedures, yet was operating on patients in the community.
According to Albasu, “The outcry was significant, leading to a formal complaint to the Ministry of Health, which then necessitated immediate action.”
This incident has raised alarm about patient safety and the enforcement of medical standards in the area.
