Forum of Civil Society Organizations Honors PLASIEC Chairman with Certificate of Credence

The Forum of Civil Society Organizations for Democracy and Good Governance in Nigeria has presented a Certificate of Credence to Hon. Plangji Daniel Cishak, Chairman of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC). The recognition took place on October 10, 2024, in appreciation of Cishak’s commendable service to the government, humanity, and the people of Plateau State.

During the presentation, Comrade Zubair Ladan, representing the forum, praised Cishak’s leadership and the transparency witnessed during recent elections. He noted the improvements seen at polling units, highlighting the integrity of the election process, including the security of resource materials. He expressed admiration for the chairman’s ability to maintain order and unity within the commission, despite challenges.

Hon. Plangji Daniel Cishak, in his response, expressed gratitude for the honor, attributing the success of the electoral process to teamwork and the leadership of Plateau State Governor, who he described as a leader with a commitment to transparency and good governance. Cishak shared insights into the challenges faced during the electoral process, including delays in receiving materials. Despite these hurdles, he emphasized that the election commission remains dedicated to improving future electoral exercises and building a lasting legacy of fairness and integrity.

The PLASIEC Chairman also mentioned the introduction of a new voter verification system, which operates both online and offline, designed to enhance the transparency of the election process. Although there were initial setbacks, Cishak assured that the commission is focused on refining the system and training staff for better performance in subsequent elections.

Cishak’s acknowledgment of Governor’s leadership and the supportive role of the Plateau State House of Assembly underscored the collective efforts that have bolstered the state’s electoral integrity. The chairman reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles, vowing continuous improvements in the election process.
