Jos, Plateau State – July 24, 2025 – The Fwinbe Thomas Gofwan Memorial Foundation (FTGMF), a non-profit organization committed to ending mob violence in Nigeria, has intervened in the case of Nenpanwa Victor Zang, popularly known as Aunty Cece, who was brutally assaulted following a false accusation.
Upon arrival at the Dadin Kowa Comprehensive Health Centre, Last Gate, the foundation’s delegation was warmly received by Martha Mallias, Head of Nursing Services (HNS). She briefed them on Aunty Cece’s critical condition.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, July 20, 2025, began when Aunty Cece was stranded in Barkin Ladi and received ₦1,500 for transport from a woman. That woman, allegedly influenced by another individual, suspected Cece of previously stealing a man’s manhood. Acting on the unverified claim, and reportedly with her military husband and a small mob, the woman led an assault against Cece. She was taken from Kufang Miango Junction to Hillstation Junction, where she was beaten to a stupor.
Currently receiving treatment at the hospital, Cece’s condition is stable but critical.
In response to the attack, the Fwinbe Thomas Gofwan Memorial Foundation, founded in memory of mob lynching victim Fwinbe Thomas Gofwan, stepped in to provide legal, medical, and psychological support.
“We are here to advocate for her, to make sure that justice is being served on her behalf and to see that people that perpetrated that action are brought to book,” said Bright Habila, Program Manager of the foundation.
Board Chairman Nenpominyi Thomas Gofwan expressed outrage over the military’s alleged involvement.
“It’s painful that those meant to protect citizens are instead harming them. This has to stop. We will provide her legal representation and trauma support to help her recover and seek justice,” he said.
The foundation’s legal representative, Mrs. Ajala Gidado, confirmed that the case has legal merit.
“A crime has clearly been committed. She has a strong case, and I believe the perpetrators will face justice. I’m confident the military will not let this slide,” she stated.
FTGMF is covering Cece’s hospital bills, facilitating trauma care, pursuing legal action, and providing humanitarian support. Their intervention reflects their unwavering mission to end mob violence and restore dignity to its victims.
