The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Adeleke was formally declared the winner on Sunday in Osogbo, the state capital, after the commission completed the collation of results from all 30 local government areas of the state.
The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), announced the final result at about 7:49am.
According to the final result entered on Form EC8E, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 444,815 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
INEC recorded 2,339,544 registered voters, with 1,010,684 accredited voters and 985,079 valid votes.
Adeleke won in 19 of the 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji of the APC won the remaining 11 LGAs.
The Accord Party secured victories in Boluwaduro, Ede South, Ife North, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Orolu, Osogbo, Oriade, Odo-Otin, Ife East, Ifelodun, Iwo, Ede North, Ila, Aiyedire, Egbedore, Aiyedaade and Ejigbo.
The APC won in Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakunmosa West, Irewole, Atakunmosa East, Isokan, Ola Oluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.
Among Adeleke’s strongest performances were recorded in Ede South, where he polled 26,188 votes against the APC’s 6,219; Ede North, where he secured 35,427 votes against 10,283; and Osogbo, where he obtained 36,480 votes against 30,474.
The governor also recorded substantial victories in Ife East with 27,201 votes, Iwo with 27,085 votes, and Ife Central with 21,171 votes.
Oyebamiji, however, posted strong results in Irewole, where he secured 29,972 votes against Adeleke’s 10,934, as well as Boripe with 19,963 votes against 12,448 and Olorunda with 24,671 votes against 23,514.
The final declaration brings the governorship election process to a close at the collation level, with Adeleke emerging ahead of the APC candidate by 66,252 votes.
