The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the third and final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, set to commence on Monday, May 11, 2026.
In a press statement issued on May 5, the Commission disclosed that the exercise, which was earlier paused on April 17, 2026, will run until July 10, 2026. The suspension, INEC explained, was to allow for the clean-up of the voter register following its publication for claims and objections.
According to INEC, the final phase provides another opportunity for eligible Nigerians, particularly those who have recently turned 18 or missed earlier registration windows, to enroll and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The Commission also urged already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged PVCs, or update their personal information to take advantage of the exercise. Such services can be accessed through INEC’s online portal or at its offices across states and local government areas nationwide.
INEC further revealed that the updated Register of Voters will be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026, allowing citizens to file claims and objections to ensure the integrity of the register.
Reassuring the public of its preparedness, the Commission stated that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a smooth exercise, while calling on eligible citizens to participate actively in strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.
