A ministerial nominee, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, fainted while undergoing scrutiny in the Senate on Wednesday.
Amidst the questioning, Lawal, clearly fatigued, suddenly lost consciousness.
Concerned senators raced to his aid and promptly dialed for help.
Upon the incident’s occurrence, Senate President Godswil Akpabio could be heard urgently requesting water and sugar to revive the ministerial nominee.
“Water, water! Can we get some sugar and water? Someone, please bring water and sugar! And please, summon Dr. Wale!” Akpabio exclaimed.
He also instructed the cameramen to exit the chamber as the senators endeavored to assist Abbas to a nearby seat.
At the time of this report, he had been transported to the hospital, although his current condition remained uncertain.
Furthermore, it was not immediately evident whether medical personnel were present, but the National Assembly maintains a fully operational clinic within the complex.
Abbas Lawal from Kaduna State underwent screening today alongside Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State and Mr. Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.
Lawal was the second nominee to face the screening process.
Recall that Balarabe Abbas Lawal was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as replacement for former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
