There are worries in the Presidency over the health of Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama.
1st News had reported on Sunday that Onyeama tested positive for COVID-19.
Sources within the Presidency revealed that the development is a source of concern to President Muhammadu Buhari. The President had lost his erstwhile Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari to COVID-19; a development that greatly saddened him.
Consequently, the news that Onyeama has also tested positive has caused him great worry.
Specifically, Presidency sources say Buhari has a great working relationship with Onyeama and sees him as an ally. Incidentally, the late Kyari and Onyeama were very close friends as well.
Indeed, Buhari has thus gone into supplications to God on his behalf.
4wardwego reports that the President on Sunday prayed for his quick recovery from the rampaging pandemic. This was disclosed in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity; Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja. The president described the minister as a strong pillar of his administration.

Further, he commended him for working tirelessly to stem the spread of the pandemic in the country; as a member of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
Also, Buhari lauded Onyeama for ensuring the safety of Nigerians abroad.
“The country is eternally grateful to Geoffrey Onyeama for his diligence in attracting international support for Nigeria to defeat the Coronavirus pandemic, and boost the economy. I wish him speedy recovery,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister, who disclosed his positive status via a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, had sounded upbeat. Further, he had revealed that he was heading for isolation and praying for the best.
“Did my fourth COVID-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately, this time, it came back positive.
“That is life! Win some, loose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best.”
