The youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State have been called upon to prioritize rebuilding, unity, and strategic planning to strengthen the party’s political influence and future success. This message resonated during the inaugural APC Youth Summit held at Crest Hotel, Jos, which brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and vibrant youth from across the state.
Themed “The Role of Youth in Rebuilding, Reuniting, and Re-strategizing for a Stronger APC,” the event aimed to foster inclusion, reassess strategies, and emphasize the critical role of youth in shaping the party’s vision. Keynote speakers and panelists addressed the need for unity, accountability, and leadership integrity within the party.
Hon. Rufus Bature, APC State Chairman, stressed the importance of electing leaders based on merit and performance. “Our youth must hold leaders accountable and ensure that only true servant leaders with proven integrity are elected. Anything less undermines our collective progress,” he stated.
Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, Chairman of the House Committee on Navy, praised the initiative, describing it as a vital step toward strengthening the APC. “The energy and commitment of our youth are pivotal in driving the party’s success and fulfilling its promises,” Gagdi remarked.
George Lambert, Chairman of the APC Patriotic Youth Front, emphasized that the summit aims to rebuild, re-strategize, and reunite the party, focusing on youth involvement in achieving electoral victories and good governance in Plateau State and beyond. While addressing unity concerns, he highlighted the importance of prior support and commitment from stakeholders, ensuring the event’s purpose and momentum remain strong.
Panel discussions, led by Dr. Fabong Jimchang, explored challenges faced by young politicians, including economic barriers and internal disunity. Dr. Jimchang urged the youth to remain open-minded and respectful while working toward a shared vision.
Hon. Owen Karyit Dagogot, Member representing Qua’an Pan North Constituency, called for forgiveness and reconciliation among party members. “The future lies in your hands. Let’s set aside past grievances and build a prosperous future together,” he implored.
The summit concluded with a commitment to sustained dialogue and collaboration among APC youths. Organizers emphasized the importance of unity, inclusion, and strategic planning in ensuring the party’s continued relevance and success in upcoming elections.
