The Plateau State Government has imposed an immediate dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas following emerging security concerns in parts of the state.
The curfew, which takes effect Monday, September 21, 2026, restricts movement in the affected local government areas from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily until further notice.
The state government said the measure is intended to enable security agencies to stabilise the affected areas, protect lives and property, and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The directive comes amid reports of fresh attacks in parts of Plateau State. At least nine people were reportedly killed in separate incidents across Barkin Ladi, Riyom and surrounding communities between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
According to the government, residents in the three affected LGAs are expected to comply fully with the restriction and plan their commercial, agricultural and personal activities around the curfew hours.
Security operatives have also been directed to strictly enforce the curfew, as well as an immediate ban on the use of motorcycles throughout the affected jurisdictions.
The government assured law-abiding residents that security personnel would carry out the enforcement professionally while working to restore normalcy.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Plateau State, dated September 21, 2026.
The latest measure follows heightened security concerns in communities within and around Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu, with authorities seeking to prevent further escalation of violence.
