To assist communities hit by conflicts in Plateau State, the government is taking action by aiding farms in Mangu, Riyom, and Barkin Ladi. These areas recently suffered from fights that ruined farms and lives.
The launch of the farm help started at Ligitlubang Community in Mangu. Dr. Susan Bentu, head of the Agricultural Services and Training Center (ASTC), shared that Governor Caleb Mutfwang ordered help for communities harmed by recent attacks.
Dr. Bentu explained that Plateau State Government asked the Agricultural Services and Training Center (ASTC) to farm lands in attack-affected areas. This will cover 900 hectares in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom LGAs in the first phase.
The main goal is to save the remaining farming season and protect the farms. The government will also guard the crops and encourage people to return home.
Though the farming season is late, the government will plant beans and soya beans, showing support for the conflict zones.
The Agro Rangers will protect the farms from more damage, and community leaders are thankful for the help. Farmers, like Elder Ezekiel Dashial and Mr. Nanribe Samuel, share their stories of attacks and praise the government’s help.
The farm help will also go to Jol, Kwi, Rim, Bachit, Sho, and 14 other communities in Plateau state. The government hopes this will bring support and hope to the affected areas.”
