In a decisive ruling, a high court sitting in Jos has affirmed the FEL and KHIG ruling houses of Garah in the Mushere district of Bokkos Local Government Area as the only families eligible to serve as the village head of Garah.
The judgment follows a suit filed in November 2019 by the FEL and KHIG ruling houses against the Vokorpupang family and the district head of Mushere. The plaintiffs sought to nullify the selection and appointment of Mr. Zakka Samben as the village head of Garah, a decision made by the district head of Mushere.
Presiding over the case, Justice B.S. Nghou ruled in favor of the plaintiffs. The judge’s decision invalidates Mr. Samben’s appointment and issues a perpetual injunction preventing him from claiming or acting as the village head of Garah.
Furthermore, Justice Nghou ordered the district head of Mushere, Miskaham Mushere, to accept, appoint, and coronate Mr. Benjamin Molshakat from the FEL ruling house as the village head of Garah, following his due selection.
The court’s declaration establishes the FEL and KHIG ruling houses as the only families authorized to present a candidate for the position of village head in Garah, solidifying their status as the legitimate ruling families of the village.
