Insurgency in Nigeria tends to become alarming on a daily, different forms of insecurity keep on arising putting the safety of the citizens at risk. Insecurity ranging from

-Fulani Herdsmen

-unknown Gunmen

-Bandits

-Kidnappers

-Boko Haram and a host of others

These insecurities has left many families and communities homeless and refugees in their own country

The Nigerian Arm Force updates its citizens daily on having to curb these insurgencies off the countries system, but the more they try, the more attacks on innocent citizens.

These insecurities has affected the younger generation psychologically especially those in rural communities, not to talk more on the economic state of these families who have to run on a daily to save their heads from Kidnappers, unknown Gunmen and bandits .

Recently the President of the Republic of Nigeria President Buhari claimed to have no idea on how bad the state of security has become. This clearly states that the plight and cries of the people reach him not.

Plateau state is not an exception, the governor at some point has done well to maintain a serene atmosphere of peace and tranquillity, but notwithstanding the rant of insecurity is still on a rampage as the Kidnappers are still in action.

Kidnaping is now a daily routine in the state, where citizens are no longer safe neither in their homes nor in the public spaces.

-Presume you remember the University of Maiduguri student who was slain by his abductors

-The Jos Cocin Church Pastor who was also abducted by this same set of kidnappers but there has been no news yet about his state.

-Not to talk of the Can members that were abducted and slain as well

Lest we talk about the daily news of theft which includes Phones, ATM cards, Bags and Money, and other treasures

These criminals are dangerous as they operate both at night and day time, considering they are always armed, they leave their victims helpless and desolate.

Cultism is not left behind as the state has experienced series of loss of lives as a result of clashes and operations from cultists who have made it a point of duty to disrupt the peace in the state

In this respect citizens are left with options than to fight for their dear life.

Citizens of plateau are left in disarray, all necessary measures needs to be put in place to tackle this realm of insecurity.

The Men of the Operation Safe Haven with a little over 2000 men, must be commended for their continuous efforts in ensuring peace and order with various arrests of criminal elements in and around Plateau state, however, it is clear the OPSH can be supported and encouraged to do more.

The questions are:

What happened to the CCTV cameras?

What happened to Operation Rainbow?

What happened to the active vigilante? Why won’t the Government provide patrol cars and put them on a salary scale which will enable them carry out their duty effectively

The government can also assist the police and other security operatives with funds and other necessary facilities to enable them carry out their function effectively.

This is a call for urgent attention to the high cry of insecurity on the Plateau and country at large.
