Jos, Nigeria – June 5, 2025

The National Industrial Court, Jos Division, has once again ruled in favor of hundreds of Plateau youths who were dismissed from various state institutions, ordering their immediate reinstatement.

Presiding over the case, Justice I.S. Galadima declared the mass sackings by the Plateau State Government as illegal, null and void. The court ruled that the affected staff members were legally employed, and their appointments followed due process under civil service regulations.

The judgment affects staff from the following institutions:
1. Plateau State College of Arts, Science and Remedial Studies (CASRS), Kurgwi
2. College of Health, Zawan
3. College of Health, Pankshin
4. College of Agriculture, Garkawa

In a firm ruling, Justice Galadima held that the claimants are “entitled to be maintained, retained, and resume their work immediately,” affirming that their disengagement lacked legal backing and violated their rights as properly engaged employees.

In addition to the reinstatement order, the court imposed a fine of ₦5.5 million against each of the four institutions, to cover general damages and filing fees—bringing the total financial penalty to ₦22 million.

The ruling marks a significant victory for the affected workers and serves as a stern reminder to government institutions to uphold the rule of law and due process in employment matters.
