COA Media, organisers of the Plateau Man of the Year Awards (PMYA), has announced the 12th edition of the annual awards, scheduled for Sunday, January 10, 2027, at Usiju World Event Centre, Jos.
Themed “Leadership Beyond Politics: Building a Legacy for Future Generations,” the 12th edition, tagged “PMYA @12 — THE STANDARD,” will introduce the Plateau State Governorship Candidates’ Manifesto & Leadership Dialogue.
According to the organisers, the non-partisan platform will provide governorship candidates an equal opportunity to present their visions, policy priorities and leadership agendas for Plateau State.
The dialogue will focus on key issues including governance, peace and security, economic development, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure, tourism, investment and sustainable development.
Established in 2014, PMYA has recognised individuals, institutions and organisations for outstanding achievements, leadership, service and contributions to Plateau State and beyond.
The Plateau Man of the Year — Star Category, regarded as the highest honour of the awards, has previously been presented to notable Plateau figures including Amb. Yahaya Kwande, Sen. Simon Lalong, Dame Pauline Tallen, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang and Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, among others.
Nominations for PMYA @12 will open on October 7 and close on October 28, 2026, covering categories such as leadership, governance, business, entrepreneurship, humanitarian service, education, healthcare, youth development, agriculture, media, technology, entertainment, culture and community impact.
Executive Director of COA Media and Event Director of PMYA, Amb. Cletus Akhimien, said the 12th edition would reaffirm the standard for recognising achievement, leadership and impact while encouraging conversations around the kind of leadership and legacy future generations should inherit.
COA Media also invited organisations, institutions and brands to explore partnership and sponsorship opportunities for PMYA @12.
