In a landmark move to position Jos, the capital of Plateau State, as a premier medical tourism destination, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has signed an agreement to establish BOMO International Hospital in Bassa Local Government Area. This ambitious $500 million project aims to transform Jos into a healthcare hub, capitalizing on the state’s favorable climate conducive to healing.
The agreement, signed with the Central Office for Major Projects and Investment (COMAPI), marks a significant milestone in Governor Mutfwang’s administration. The Governor emphasized that the hospital will greatly improve healthcare delivery across Plateau State, providing high-quality and affordable medical services to its citizens. He hailed the initiative as a pivotal step towards achieving his campaign promise of enhancing the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
COMAPI’s Company Secretary, Asama Matthew Ahinche, highlighted the project’s collaboration with international financiers. He noted that the hospital aims to reduce the need for medical tourism abroad by ensuring accessible and superior healthcare services locally. This partnership underscores the global confidence in the project and its potential to set new standards in the region’s healthcare sector.
The establishment of BOMO International Hospital will operate under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, utilizing a Build-Operate-and-Transfer framework over the next decade. The local communities have generously donated a ten-hectare plot for the hospital, demonstrating a collective commitment to advancing healthcare in the region.
