The Plateau State Government has clarified that it fully complied with all statutory deadlines for its 2024 audited financial statements, contrary to a recent report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) listing the state among defaulters.
In a statement signed by the Accountant-General, Naanret Asabe Manset, the government stated that the financial statements were submitted to the Auditor-General in May 2025, audited and forwarded to the House of Assembly in June 2025, approved by the lawmakers, and published online on July 30, 2025—well within the nine-month legal timeline.
The Accountant-General urged FIJ to correct the publication and remove Plateau State from the list of non-compliant states, reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and timely financial reporting.
