Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, assures citizens that the ongoing railway project is nearing completion, aiming to alleviate transportation costs and propel economic development. During an inspection at the Jos Terminus Station, represented by Deputy Governor Mrs. Josephine Piyo, he emphasized the project’s significance in addressing economic challenges and fostering agricultural growth.
Highlighting the pivotal role of railways in economic development, Mutfwang stressed the project’s potential to open up regions and attract various developments. He underscored its importance amid security concerns in the state, urging the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to expedite the project’s completion and ensure high standards.
The National President of the Nigerian Union of Railway Workers, Innocent Ajiji, commended the state government for revitalizing the railway system, revealing plans for locomotive trains to commence operations by December. Ajiji noted the potential impact on agriculture and the economy, emphasizing the project’s role in reducing food prices through efficient transport for farmers.
Transport Commissioner Davou Jatau praised Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to development, acknowledging the challenges faced with limited resources. He highlighted the governor’s unwavering determination and leadership in enhancing the lives of Plateau citizens.
