Esteemed Haitian rapper and musician, Wyclef Jean, is poised to make a special appearance in Plateau State on December 28, 2023. The agenda includes a peace concert and the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the innovative National Film Village proposed by the state government.
Plateau State envisions the National Film Village as a pioneering hub in Africa, fostering emerging talents locally and beyond. This ambitious project is set to redefine both local and global landscapes with state-of-the-art music and movie studios. Its primary goals include promoting equitable wealth distribution and offering a robust platform to showcase the talents of Plateau’s youth globally.
In conjunction with the film village initiative, the state has finalized plans for Smart City Housing Units catering to various income brackets. This aligns with Plateau’s commitment to sustainable housing and urban development.
Joshua Laven, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, shared insights during a tour of the project sites in Kuru and Mararaban Jama’a within the Jos South Local Council. Laven stated, “We aim to develop a state-of-the-art film village, a first of its kind in Africa. Wyclef Jean will be joining us on December 28, 2023, for a peace concert and to lay the foundation for the film village. The governor has secured the commitment of all developers to hit the ground running.”
Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s vision for Plateau State focuses on transforming its identity into a prominent destination for entertainment, peace, and tourism. Wyclef Jean’s upcoming visit, as a globally acclaimed artist, underscores the state’s dedication to attracting international attention and fostering cultural and creative exchange.
Hart Bankat, the General Manager of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMBD), expressed satisfaction with the chosen project sites, emphasizing their alignment with Governor Mutfwang’s mandate to implement the greater Jos master plan. These projects mark a significant stride toward positioning Plateau State as a hub for innovation, creativity, and sustainable urban development.
