The recent publication by Mr. Clinton Garuba demands urgent clarification, not for the sake of partisan squabbles, but to protect the dignity of a statesman whose legacy transcends the petty fray of local politics. While Mr. Garuba frames his narrative as a defense of Senator Jonah David Jang, he has, ironically, dragged the revered “Father of Plateau” into an arena wholly beneath his stature.

I. The Unassailable Stature of Senator Jang
Senator Jonah Jang is a national icon, an architect of modern Plateau, and a beacon of integrity in Nigerian politics. His leadership requires no validation through control of party executives or council appointments. His legacy is etched in the collective memory of Plateau — a legacy built on principle, not political puppetry. To imply that Jang’s influence hinges on endorsing LGA chairmen or “controlling structures” is to grossly underestimate his hard-earned moral authority. True leaders command loyalty through respect, not coercion.

II. The Grave Injustice of Trivializing Jang’s Legacy
It is profoundly troubling that Mr. Garuba and his associates have reduced Senator Jang to a pawn in the localized politics of Jos South. By invoking Jang’s name to settle personal grievances against Hon. Dachung Bagos, they commit two injustices:

  1. Diminishing Jang’s National Relevance: Jang’s wisdom is sought on matters of state and nation—not LGA chairmanship appointments.
  2. Weaponizing His Fatherhood: Positioning Jang as a partisan figure in internal PDP disputes alienates the very “children” he mentors.
This is not protection, it is exploitation!

III. The Persistent Vilification of Bagos: Ambition & Disloyalty
Mr. Garuba’s narrative conveniently omits a pattern of hostility towards Hon. Bagos dating back to 2014-2023 where he stood his grounds against injustice anti people’s policies even when Jang was incarcerated by the EFCC Bagos was seen everywhere projecting Justice. Bagos’ “sin” was not disloyalty-it was patriotism. His commitment to service (evidenced by consecutive electoral mandates) and respect for elders were deliberately reframed as “scheming.” When plots to pit him against Jang continued, his natural caution (born of repeated false accusations) was twisted into “hostility.”

Bagos is no saint—but he is a son of Plateau who respects his fathers. To claim he seeks to “drag power” from Jang is not just false; it is an insult to Jang’s discernment. A man of Jang’s wisdom cannot be so easily manipulated against a loyal son.

IV. A Call for Truth and Legacy Protection
We ask Senator Jang directly: Should your name be weaponized to destroy others? Should aides speaking “in your defense” stain your legacy with local grudges?

To Mr. Garuba: True loyalty to Jang demands elevating his name above factionalism. If Bagos erred, present facts—not fabrications. The people of Plateau see through theatrics. As you rightly quoted: “You can’t fool all the people all the time,” and they people are certainly not accepting the conning narrative by power seekers who consistently exploit Jang’s name against others

In Conclusion
Senator Jang’s place in history is secure. He does not need aides to “defend” him in LGA quarrels—he needs them to emulate his integrity. We urge all parties to:

  1. Stop exploiting Jang’s name for tactical gains.
  2. Resolve internal PDP matters without dragging elders into the mud.
  3. Honor Jang’s legacy by focusing on service, not sabotage.

Plateau deserves better. Senator Jang deserves better.
